I participated in an internship at Clay Today, a weekly paper and online news outlet for Clay County, FL. Most of my work consisted of writing weekly police briefs, working on feature stories, and copy editing other reporter’s work before print time. On occasion, I accompanied reporters to courthouses to cover and transcribe the information and facts presented on both sides. I also worked on some other publications Clay Today prints. The Clay County Agricultural Fair Guide is an award-winning pamphlet, map, and information booklet handed out at the CCA Fair. This project included interviewing volunteers, researching information on bands and performers, and working with different organizations who advertised in the guide.
The Following are examples of police briefs. I translated information from police reports, warrants, and press releases.
The following are examples of features stories I wrote. One is of a Florida Highway Patrol Press Conference. The other is coverage of a youth program.
The following is a section of the federal court case I helped cover. Most of my work on this story was transcribing testimony, communicating with police for information, and attending the trial in its entirety.
